As a staff accountant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation of financial statements for compilation engagements based on client provided working papers;
  • Preparation of personal, corporate and trust tax returns, as well as tax and regulatory forms (T4, T5, T5018, HST, EHT and WSIB);
  • Preparation of adjusting journal entries, bank reconciliations, calculation of depreciation, income tax accruals and reconciliation of inter-company accounts;
  • Assist in specified review or audit procedures such as sampling and vouching;
  • Drafting correspondence related to client engagements;
  • Perform other duties as required.

The skills and qualifications needed for this position include:

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in public accounting;
  • Post-graduate degree in Accounting/Business and working towards the CPA designation;
  • Basic understanding of IFRS, ASPE, CAS and Canadian Tax;
  • Ability to generate financial statements from client provided documents and draft associated tax returns with minimal supervision;
  • Experience with CaseWare, CaseView and Profile are considered an asset;
  • Openness to learning new tools and adapting to new technologies;
